An Elgin man traveled to Braidwood for an illicit meeting with a 14-year-old, police said.

A patrol officer pulled over a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Alexander Carachure shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement released by the Braidwood Police Department.

The 14-year-old Braidwood girl was in the car with Carachure, police said.

The officer determined Carachure “traveled to Braidwood to meet with a female resident, who he knew to be 14 years old,” police said.

“During the follow up investigation, it was learned that they met and have been communicating through a popular social media site,” according to police.

Carachure was arrested and booked into the Will County jail on probable cause of traveling to meet a minor, grooming and criminal sexual abuse, records show.

Carachure appeared in court Sunday morning and his bond was set at $100,000, according to county jail records. He was scheduled to return to court Wednesday afternoon.
