A head-on collision with a wrong-way driver on Interstate 80 left three dead in the first minutes of Labor Day, police said.

Rishaunda Buckley, 28, of Chicago was driving a Kia Optima east in the westbound lanes of I-80 just east of Wolf Road near Mokena shortly after 12:15 a.m. Monday when she crashed head-on into a Nissan Versa, according to a statement released Monday afternoon by the Illinois State Police.

Buckley, along with the driver of the Versa, Amanda Fouche, 30, of Aurora, and a passenger in the Versa, Kyle Vance, 36, also of Aurora, all were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said.

The westbound lanes of I-80 were blocked off shortly after 1 a.m. for an investigation of the crash, according to the state police, and reopened about four and a half hours later.
