Lockport came out on top at the SouthWest Suburban Conference Girls Bowling Tournament with a 5833 team score, just ahead of Andrew (5759) and Stagg (5593) at Strike & Spare in Lockport on Saturday.
Lincoln-Way East came fourth at 5331, Lincoln-Way West was fifth at 5228, Lincoln-Way Central finished seventh with 4490 and Bolingbrook brought up the rear in ninth at 3825.
Lockport’s Morgan LiCausi took first place as an individual with a 1277 series over six games and her teammate Isa Colon was fifth at 1210. Lincoln-Way East’s Amanda Martineck came seventh with a 1190 series and Lincoln-Way Central’s Abby Nolan finished ninth with a 1169.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Peotone 55, Streator 24: At Peotone, the Blue Devils improved to 10-0 in Illinois Central Eight play with a commanding win over the Bulldogs.
Mady Kibelkis scored 16 points for Peotone (18-4, 10-0), Madi Schroeder had 15 points and Addie Graffeo scored 11.
Beecher 62, Reed-Custer 37: At Braidwood, the Comets were unable to keep up with the visiting Bobcats in a nonconference loss.
Caelan Cole led R-C with eight points and five rebounds.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lockport 40, Plainfield North 35: At Plainfield, the Porters battled to a win on the road to bounce back after Friday’s tough loss.
Anthony Munson had nine points for Lockport (12-9).
Joliet Catholic 51, Plainfield South 49: At Joliet, the Hilltoppers survived a close one at home led by a 16-point day from David Conner.
Alex Brown added 13 points for JCA (10-9, 0-7) and Tyler Surin scored 11.
WRESTLING
Tom Lahey Invitational: At Palos Hills, Lincoln-Way West had 10 medalists and one champion on the way to a fourth-place finish at Stagg as part of the Tom Lahey Invite.
Karter Guzman won championship gold at 126 pounds for the Warriors and Anthony Sherman took runner up at 195 pounds. Jase Salin, Cameron Knepper, Michael Sneed and Jake Ziemniarski all took third place in their respective classes.
Lincoln-Way Central came sixth with a pair of championship finishes. Joey Malito took the top prize at 120 pounds for the Knights and Conor Smetana was tops at 138 pounds. Nathan James took third at 195.
COMPETITIVE DANCE
Local squads won all three divisions at the Fieldcrest Sectional on Saturday.
In Class 3A, Minooka edged out Lincoln-Way East 89.4 to 89.73. Both squads will advance to state as will Lockport (3rd, 88.53), Plainfield South (4th, 85.73) and Lincoln-Way Central (5th, 85.48).
The Class 2A event saw Lincoln-Way West emerge with the title as it scored an 88.8 in its win. Also qualifying for state are Providence (3rd, 86.38) and Joliet Catholic (4th, 85.9).
In Class 1A, Morris was the big winner finishing with a huge score of 90.47, Gardner-South Wilmington also advanced with a fourth place showing and a score of 79.93.
At the Geneva Sectional, Lemont took third in the Class 2A division with a score of 83.57 qualifying for state in the process.
Hinsdale South won the division with a score of 84.77.
In Class 3A, Plainfield North was the only local squad to advance taking sixth place with a score of 84.33. Waubonsie Valley won the event with a score of 89.93
