Seneca’s girls basketball team played rock-solid defense Monday to take down Putnam County, 38-16, in Seneca.
Kennedy Hartwig and Harleigh Varland shared the scoring lead with seven points apiece. Ten Irish players scored in the win.
Lincoln-Way Central 65, Lockport 36: At New Lenox, Azyah Newson-Cole put up 20 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead the Knights to victory over the Porters.
Keira Hunt added 13 points, and Nicole Connolly had nine points and five boards.
Peotone 56, Coal City 27: At Peotone, the Blue Devils opened Illinois Central Eight Conference play with a win over Coal City.
Mady Kibelkis led the way with 20 points for Peotone (3-3, 1-0 ICE) and Madi Schroeder and Marissa Velasco added eight points apiece.
