The Joliet Catholic football team protected its undefeated record on Friday night as they cruised past St. Laurence, 41-7.
Jordan Anderson returned to action and scored three touchdowns in the win for Joliet Catholic (6-0), currently ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Class 4A poll.
Joliet West 33, Romeoville 14: The Tigers claimed their first victory of the season with a Southwest Prairie Conference divisional win over Romeoville (0-6).
Plainfield South 48, Joliet Central 6: The Cougars picked up their second consecutive victory and got back to the .500 mark.
Joliet Central dropped to 0-6, as Marcus Hill accounted for the lone Steelmen touchdown on a pass from Carl Bew.
Bolingbrook 20, Homewood-Flossmoor 6: The Raiders (5-1) beat the Vikings for the first time since 2015, and Jaquan Howard rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Sandburg 30, Lincoln-Way East 27: It was a shocking loss for the Griffins, and the first time they have lost a contest to a SouthWest Suburban Conference foe since 2016.
Brennan Stolarek had two rushing scores for Lincoln-Way East (4-2).
Bradley-Bourbonnais 40, Lincoln-Way Central 21: The Boilermakers proved too much for the Knights (2-4).
Montini 21, Providence 3: The Celtics (3-3) struggled through some offensive woes as they dropped a CCL/ESCC Orange division game.
Lemont 61, Bremen 22: South Suburban Conference teams continued to provide little resistance to Lemont (6-0).
Wilmington 21, Reed-Custer 14: The Wildcats emerged with the win in a battle of undefeated teams in Illinois Central Eight play.
Colin James and Jacob Friddle each ran for 100-plus yards for Wilmington (6-0), currently ranked No. 1 in the Class 3A AP poll.
Coal City 42, Manteno 14: Ashton Harvey scored four touchdowns for the Coalers (4-2), and they coasted to an Illinois Central Eight victory.
Peotone 26, Streator 20 (OT): The Blue Devils (4-2) piled up 241 yards rushing as a team as they fended off a pesky Bulldogs squad in extra time.
Clifton Central 40, Dwight 6: The Trojans still are looking for their first win as they dropped the Vermilion Valley Conference game.
VOLLEYBALL
Lockport volleyball had four consecutive wins to take the championship crown at the Tinley Park Invite on Saturday.
The Porters defeated St. Laurence (25-11, 25-16), Andrew (22-25, 25-22, 15-13) and Oak Lawn (25-11, 25-15) before taking down Stagg in the championship match.
Grace Juergens led the way with nine kills in the 25-19, 25-13 clincher, Aleksa Simkus had eight kills, Ava Theoharis added 12 digs and Lainey Green doled out 12 assists.
BOYS SOCCER
Lincoln-Way Central 4, Andrew 1: At Tinley Park, a hat trick from Nico Espinosa led the Knights to victory in their SouthWest Suburban Confererence Red opener.
Eddie Rafacz also scored for Central, and Ryan Marszalak made four saves. The Knights are 12-1-1 overall and 1-0 in SWSC red action.
Oswego 5, Plainfield Central 0: At Oswego, the Panthers were dominant in a shutout victory.
Lemont 5, Richards 1: At Oak Lawn, Lemont secured a resounding victory on the road.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
St. Charles North Invite: At St. Charles, Lincoln-Way Central took seventh place with a team score of 188.
Claire Carter was the top finisher for the Knights, placing 25th as an individual with a time of 19:55.8.
