Minooka blanked Brother Rice 3-0 on the road in Chicago on Saturday to secure a PepsiCo Showdown victory.
Tyler Colwell, Mateo Reyes and Carson Messina each scored a goal in the victory, while Cade Ooms and Ethan Kimbarovsky shared another clean-sheet win at keeper. Minooka is 5-2-1 overall.
Lincoln-Way Central 3, Juarez 2: At Joliet, the Knights picked up a PepsiCo Showdown victory to improve to 5-1 overall.
Dale Hauser, Brandon Jones and Nico Espinosa scored one goal each in the win and Ryan Marszalak made seven saves at keeper.
Lincoln-Way West 6, Waubonsie Valley 3: At Plainfield, L-WW took down Waubonsie Valley in a Warriors vs. Warriors showdown to kick off pool play at the Plainfield North Classic.
VOLLEYBALL
Elgin Tournament: At Elgin, Gardner-South Wilmington went 2-1-1 on the day to secure a second place finish in tournament action.
The Panthers started the day with a 25-9, 25-11 win over Harvard, tied Rockford their second match 25-22, 5-25 then defeated Willows Academy 27-25, 25-20 to earn a spot in the championship match.
The title match was a rematch with Rockford, which saw G-SW fall 25-13, 25-20. The Panthers are 6-5-1 overall.
BOYS GOLF
American Proud Invitational: At The Creek, Reed-Custer took seventh place with a team score of 419. Seneca was the overall victor, shooting a cumulative 338.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
First to the Finish Invitational: At Peoria, Lincoln-Way Central finished 18th out of 41 teams at Detweiller Park.
Caden Simone ranked among the best runners in the state with a fifth place individual finish and a time of 15 minutes, 1 second. Connor LeBeau also cracked the top 100, taking 81st place with a time of 16:23.
