IDPH to conduct free COVID-19 testing this weekend in Joliet

Testing is free and open to the public

Will County residents will have more opportunities to get a free COVID-19 test this weekend at the Spanish Community Center in Joliet.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has been holding free, drive-thru testing at sites all over the state throughout the pandemic.

The Spanish Community Center is located at 309 N. Eastern Ave. in Joliet. Testing will be held both on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. while testing supplies lasts

Anyone can be tested regardless of symptoms or immigration status. There is no cost to the individual for testing, but they should bring their insurance card if they have one. Insurance is not required.

Specimens will be collected using a simple nasal swab.

The Will County Health Department has also been providing regular free COVID-19 testing each week for residents at various locations in Joliet, Romeoville, New Lenox and University Park.

Will County’s rolling average COVID-19 test positivity rate has declined steadily over the last several weeks since surging last fall.
