The New Year offers a fresh start to add healthy habits to your routine.

If you are ready to set new fitness goals to kick off 2022, here are 3 tips to help you stay on track.

1. Commit to a routine.

Whether it’s taking a walk around the park twice a week or finally getting serious about sticking to that gym membership, find something that works for you and stick with it!

The Dixon Family YMCA offers a wide range of group classes to help you stay motivated all year long – and get results! From Power Pump and Studio Kickboxing to Yoga, Abtastic and Stretch Therapy, there is something for everyone.

Open swim, lap swim and deep water aerobics are also available at the YMCA throughout the week. Visit www.dixonymca.org and check out the interactive calendar for a full schedule.

2. Develop good nutrition habits.

What good is a rigorous workout routine if you don’t have a healthy diet to go along with it? The majority of Americans don’t eat the daily recommended three or more servings of vegetables, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Vegetables are an important part of your daily nutrients and fiber.

Cut back on your sugar intake by indulging your sweet tooth with low-sugar options. Better yet, get rid of the junk! Make your environment work for you and eliminate the temptations in your kitchen.

3. Get a workout buddy.

Committing to a healthy New Year is a lot easier when your friends and family are on board. Share your goals and invite them to join you. Plus, working out is more enjoyable when you do it with a friend!

Share recipes, check in with them weekly and help each other stay accountable on this journey!

Check for updates using the YMCA mobile app and find some new interactive ways to engage your YMCA membership virtually. Check in easily, view class schedules, log workouts and stay connected!
