Scarecrows are popping up in Dixon’s downtown

DIXON — Cawing all scarecrow creators.

Time’s running out to stuff straw into an old flannel shirt prop one up on a lamp post.

Dixon Chamber and Main Street is having a scarecrow contest in conjunction with the Scarecrow Festival on Saturday.

But the deadline for putting up a creative entry is Thursday. All the entries will be judged on creativity and the top three will be awarded prizes during the festival.

Families, organizations, groups and businesses are invited to participate by creating a scarecrow that will be displayed on a light post throughout the downtown. Entrants must check their display daily so that it is intact and presentable.

Scarecrows must be family friendly and include the name of person or group making the entry. The displays will remain up until Nov. 1.

To enter a scarecrow, call the Dixon Chamber and Main Street office at 815-284-3361 or “Shoo! Shoo!” an email to jennifer.lang@dixonnow.com.
