1 President Barack Obama unveiled the American Jobs Act to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 8.
2 To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorism attacks, the 9/11 National Memorial and Museum in New York City opens.
3 In what was called Occupy Wall Street, thousands marched on the nation’s financial center to protest high unemployment and bailouts of the sector.
4 Remember “Mad Men”? The TV show won outstanding drama series at the Emmy Awards.
5 The armed forces officially ends the policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” — no longer requiring service members to keep their sexual orientation secret.
