Clear on Labor Day, but weekend a mixed bag

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Labor Day in the Sauk Valley should be sunny with a high temperature that’s a seasonably comfortable 82.

Before that happens, though, there will be rain.

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued its Labor Day Weekend forecast.

Scattered showers are expected to begin before noon on Friday, accompanied by wind gusts as high as 20 mph. It will be cloudy and a high near 73. More scattered showers might develop Friday evening with a low around 63. Chance of rain is 30%.

That 30% chance of showers holds through Saturday morning. It will be cloudy with a high near 75. On Saturday evening it will be partly cloudy, a low of 55 degrees and a northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph.

Clear conditions materialize on Sunday, with a high of 82. Westerly winds could pick up with gusts about 25 mph. Sunday night will be clear with a low of 54.
