Players hit the court for first day of Emma Hubbs Tournament

The Emma Hubbs Classic tennis tournament got underway on Monday at the Emma Hubbs Tennis Courts in Dixon, with nine teams battling it out in the 18-and-under mixed doubles division.

Logan Moeller and Leah Kuehl took first with 26 games won, with Koda Brininger and Sarah Tunink second after winning 24 games. Logan Palmer and Rachel Lance took third with 17 games won. Thomas Powers and Lilliana Campbell took fourth with 16. Also in action in that division were Kaiser Khawaja and Addison Arjes, Owen Winters and Grace Ferguson, Kaden Welty and Marisel Schlack, Yamaan Alkhalaf and Julie Rhodes, and Jubraan Alkhalaf and Ellie Aitken.

In the 13 mixed doubles division, Jubraan Alkhalaf and Fareeda Alkhalaf took first, winning 10 games. Brooklyn Arjes and Braden Brigl won six games to take second, and Tarek Khawaja and Caitlin Flanagan won two games to take third.

In 15 boys doubles, Ryan Partington and Palmer won 16 games to take first, beating out Kaiser Khawaja and Jubraan Alkhalaf, who took 15 games. Kamaan Alkhalaf and Patrick Riley won nine games, and Hiram Zigler and Joel Rhodes won eight.

In 15 girls doubles, Lance and Ferguson took first, winning 10 games. Addison Arjes and Brooklyn Arjes took second, winning a super triebreaker 10-8 against Fareeda Alkhalaf and Aitken.

In the Tiny Tots, Oliver Shaddick took first with 29 points, narrowly edging out Lucas Lance (28 points) and Katie Demmer (27). Lila Reuter took fourth with 25 points. Rachel Catt, Jack Tylkowski, Karly Kerchner, Morgan Kerchner, Wade Fiessinger and Maggie Shaddick also took the court.

Emerald Hill Ladies League

The ladies teed it up at Emerald Hill for their weekly league day on Tuesday, with Most One-Putts & Chip-Ins as the play of the day.

Julie Pratt took first place, while Vicki Carlson and Sue Nestor tied for second. Mimi Boysen had the low gross, and Pratt had the low putts.
