FULTON – The Morrison couple killed Friday morning in a rollover on U.S. Route 136 just west of Sand Road were identified today as 71-year-old driver Stephen E.Higdon and his wife, Catherine S. Higdon, 70.

The Higdons, formerly of Fairfield, Iowa, were eastbound in their black SUV around 9:15 a.m. when it left the roadway, traveled through the southbound ditch and rolled. They died at the scene, Whiteside County Sheriff John Booker said.

No seat belts were worn, and the crash still is under investigation, Booker said.

They lived in Morrison about 3 years, Booker said.
