ROCK FALLS – A Rock Falls man out on bond in two other felony cases was arrested Wednesday and charged in two burglaries.
One or more people broke into Whiteside County Animal Control and a Rock Falls construction business late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
Video surveillance and evidence collected at the scenes led police to a home in the 600 block of East Rock Falls Road, where a search turned up items taken in the burglaries, Rock Falls police said in a news release today.
Troy Stapleton Jr., 43, of Rock Falls, is in Whiteside County jail on $75,000 bond, charged with two counts of burglary, punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison, and two counts of theft worth more than $500 but less than $10,000, which carries 2 to 5 years.
More arrests may be pending, against him and others, the release said.
Stapleton was free on a recognizance bond in two pending 2020 felony cases, one charging him with possession of more than 500 but less than 2,000 grams of marijuana and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and the other with theft worth less than $500 and two counts of criminal damage to property.
