Rock Falls man arrested in Dixon on cocaine charges

DIXON – A previously convicted Rock Falls cocaine dealer is in Lee County jail today, arrested early Wednesday morning with 19 grams of cocaine and “a large amount” of cash in his car, Dixon police said in a news release today.

Terrence D. Montgomery, 36, was arrested around 11:40 a.m. after police received multiple calls reporting a speeding car heading to Dixon on state Route 2 that had nearly hit other vehicles.

Police spotted Montgomery’s vehicle near West Everett Street and North Peoria Avenue, pulled him over and found the cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash.

He is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance within 500 feet of a school and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance within 500 feet of a church, each of which carry 6 to 30 years in prison; possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, which carries 4 to 15 years; and possession of a controlled substance, which is punishable by 1 to 3 years.

He is in Lee County Jail on $100,000 bond; his next hearing is July 21.

Montgomery was sentenced in 2010 in Whiteside County to 8 years for dealing cocaine and to 3 years in 2006 for possession of cocaine; two counts of dealing cocaine were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
