5 Things To Do In the Sauk Valley: Antiques, crafts and live performances

What’s old is new again, the saying goes. Never truer than at the antique fair that returns to Oregon’s Blackhawk Center after a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Local stages are filled with a fantastic group of lost souls making a trip to the Emerald City, a some local Christian musicians and a jazzy drummer.

1 Made by hand. The Cabin Fever Craft and Vendor show will be noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Loveland Community House and Museum, 513 W. Second St., Dixon. The show includes quality, handmade crafts and edibles alongside a wide selection of nationally vended items. The Loveland History Museum will be open during the show. The museum will also be handicapped accessible at all levels.

2 Follow the Yellow Brick Road. Milledgeville High School presents “Wizard of Oz!” at Chadwick School, 15 School Street, Chadwick. Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday 2:30pm. Sunday. All tickets will be sold at the door for $10 each. The production includes district students in grades 1 to 12.

3 Back to the Blackhawk Center. Oregon Women’s Club’s antique fair returns to Blackhawk Center, 1101 W. Jefferson Str., Oregon. It will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $6. Some of the fair’s most popular features are back, including crystal and china repair. Appraisals will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday for $5 per item.

4 Christian concert. First United Methodist Church will be hosting local worship band Heirborn at 5 p.m. on Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 202 S. Peoria Avenue. The concert is free and open to the community, but the church will be accepting freewill offerings. The band has been performing together for two years. The concert will also be available for viewing on the church’s website fumcdixon.org or on the church’s Facebook page FUMCDixon. Call 815-284-2849 for more information.

5 Percussion delight. The last of Judy Carmichael’s three Dixon-based tapings of NPR’s “Jazz Inspired” will be 7 p.m. Friday at Dixon Theatre, 114 S. Galena Ave. The guest is Bob Rummage, director of percussion at Elmhurst University who has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Nat Adderley and Benny Golson.
