After winning three of his four matches on Day 1 of the IHSA State Tennis Tournament, Sterling junior Brecken Peterson lost his opening match Friday on the second day of the meet in the Chicago suburbs.

He won his opener and lost in the second round Thursday, then won his first two consolation-bracket matches to earn a berth for Day 2.

But he lost 6-3, 6-0 to Dash Smith of Chicago U-High in the consolation fourth round to end his season.
