COVID-19 update: Whiteside County reports three virus-related deaths

Whiteside County announced three coronavirus deaths during the last week of two residents in their 80s and one in his or her 50s.

Whiteside County had 73 cases last week, the same as the week prior. Lee County had 24 cases across the week, compared with 48 cases the week before.

Whiteside County has administered 51,837 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 26,111 people (46.94%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 35,524 doses, with 17,929 people (52.39%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 11,407 vaccine doses, with 5,971 people (41.72%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 51,264 doses, with 25,350 people (49.78%) fully vaccinated.

The positivity rate for the North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) increased to 3.8%.

Currently, 18% of ICU beds are available. Lee County’s rate increased to 1.7%, and Whiteside County’s stayed flat at 3.5%.

Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable 10 out of the past 10 days in this region. The region is down to 92 total COVID-19 hospitalizations.
