Whiteside, Lee counties report 188 COVID-19 cases

Whiteside and Lee counties reported 188 coronavirus cases across the last week.

There were 122 cases in Whiteside County last week compared to 135 the week before. Lee County had 66 cases compared to 57 the week prior.

Whiteside County had 522 cases in September compared to 302 in August and 53 in July. Most of the cases during those months were younger than 20 with 170 in September, 89 in August and 13 in July.

The health department also reported Monday the COVID-19 death of a person in their 80s.

Carroll County had 15 cases from Sept. 28 to Monday.

Whiteside County has administered 50,713 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 25,843 people (46.46%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 34,252 doses, with 17,703 people (51.73%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 11,143 vaccine doses, with 5,905 people (41.26%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 49,730 doses, with 24,889 people (48.88%) fully vaccinated.

The North (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) region’s positivity rate decreased to 3.8%.

Currently, 16% of ICU beds are available.

Lee County’s rate increased to 1.8%, and Whiteside County’s went down to 3.1%.

Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable seven out of the past 10 days in this region. The region is down to 110 total COVID-19 hospitalizations.
