Whiteside, Lee counties report 141 COVID-19 cases

Lee first county in Sauk Valley to reach 50% vaccination rate

Staff at Dixon Rehab lined up to receive their inoculations, while residents were vaccinated room by room. The Lee County Health Department also is working to vaccinate as many people as fast as possible, and community members are asked be patient as the department waits for doses to arrive, and works to get them distributed quickly.

Whiteside and Lee counties reported 141 new coronavirus cases during the last week, and Lee County is the first in the Sauk Valley to reach 50% fully vaccinated.

Whiteside County had 73 cases compared with 89 the week before.

Lee County had 68 cases, the same as the previous week.

The Ogle County Health Department is not reporting the number of new COVID-19 cases, but the county had 133 new cases last week compared with 107 the week before, according to KSB Hospital’s COVID-19 hub.

Whiteside County has administered 49,495 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 25,285 people (45.46%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 33,595 doses, with 17,162 people (50.15%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 10,848 vaccine doses, with 5,763 people (40.27%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 47,634 doses, with 23,903 people (46.94%) fully vaccinated.

The North (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) region’s positivity rate increased to 5.8%.

Currently, 16% of ICU beds are available.

Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable two out of the past 10 days in this region. The region is down to 108 total COVID-19 hospitalizations.
