Sauk Valley reports 97 COVID-19 cases Wednesday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 97 new coronavirus cases Wednesday, with the bulk from Ogle County across the last week.

Whiteside County had eight new cases, with two younger than 20, two in their 30s, and one each in their 20s, 40s, 60s and 80s, for a total of 7,237 cases, 170 deaths and 6,804 recoveries.

Lee County had 24 cases since Saturday, with three younger than 12, four teens, one each in their 20s and 60s, five in their 30s, five in their 40s, and five in their 50s, and now totals 3,898 cases and 70 deaths.

Carroll County had two new cases, and now has a total of 1,676 cases and 37 deaths.

Ogle County had 63 new cases across the last week, for a total of 5,887 cases, 81 deaths and 5,707 recoveries.

Whiteside County has administered 36,826 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 17,011 people (30.58%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 23,092 doses, with 11,146 people (32.57%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 8,287 vaccine doses, with 4,099 people (28.64%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 35,068 doses, with 16,557 people (32.55%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 117 days. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.1%.

Currently, 17% of ICU beds are available. Wednesday is the 30th straight day this region is under 20% ICU capacity.

Lee County’s rate stayed flat at 1%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 2%.

Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 1,795 cases and 26 deaths Wednesday. The state has had 1,359,748 cases and 22,285 deaths.
