Whiteside County reports 2 COVID-19 deaths, 8 cases Thursday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

Whiteside County reported two coronavirus deaths and eight cases Thursday.

The deaths were a man in his 50s and a woman in her 60s. There was one case each in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, and two in their 60s and two in their 70s, as well as 100 recoveries. Whiteside has had 7,188 cases, 169 deaths and 6,204 recoveries.

Whiteside County has administered 35,792 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 16,240 people (29.19%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 22,435 doses, with 10,686 people (31.22%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 7,977 vaccine doses, with 3,837 people (26.81%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 33,786 doses, with 15,592 people (30.62%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 110 days. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 5.7%.

Currently, 19% of ICU beds are available. Thursday is the 24th straight day this region is under 20% ICU capacity.

Lee County’s rate decreased to 1.2%, and Whiteside County’s increased to 4.0%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 1,778 cases and 40 deaths Thursday and now totals 1,348,176 cases and 22,136 deaths.
