Sauk Valley reports 2 COVID-19 deaths, 23 cases Wednesday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported two coronavirus deaths and 23 new cases Wednesday.

Whiteside County announced the death of two women in their 70s and 90s as well as seven cases, with one younger than 20, three in their 30s, two in their 40s and one in his or her 50s. There were also 70 recoveries, giving the county a total of 7,188 cases, 167 deaths and 6,204 recoveries.

Lee County had 13 cases, with one teen, three in their 20s, four in their 30s, two in their 40s, and one each in their 50s, 60s, and 70s, and now totals 3,856 cases and 70 deaths.

Carroll County had three new cases, and has had a total of 1,666 cases and 37 deaths.

Whiteside County has administered 35,306 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 15,833 people (28.46%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 22,283 doses, with 10,591 people (30.95%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 7,932 vaccine doses, with 3,815 people (26.66%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 33,318 doses, with 15,176 people (29.8%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 109 days. The region’s positivity rate stayed flat at 5.8%.

Currently, 19% of ICU beds are available. Wednesday is the 23rd straight day this region is under 20% ICU capacity.

Lee County’s rate decreased to 1.3%, and Whiteside County’s stayed flat at 3.8%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 2,410 cases and 30 deaths Wednesday.The state has seen 1,346,398 cases and 22,096 deaths.
