Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 30 new coronavirus cases Tuesday.

Whiteside County had 25 new cases, with eight younger than 20, three in their 20s, four in their 30s, four in their 40s, four in their 50s, and one each in their 60s and 70s, as well as 19 recoveries. Whiteside has had a total of 6,977 cases, 162 deaths and 6,024 recoveries.

Carroll County had five new cases, and now totals 1,644 cases and 37 deaths.

Whiteside County has administered 30,843 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 13,424 people (24.13%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 19,411 doses, with 8,687 people (25.38%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 7,103 vaccine doses, with 3,288 people (22.97%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 28,368 doses, with 12,019 people (23.6%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 94 days. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 6.8%.

Currently, 15% of ICU beds are available. Tuesday is the eighth straight day this region is under 20% ICU capacity.

Lee County’s rate increased to 1.8%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 7.3%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 2,587 cases and nine deaths Tuesday. The state has had 1,306,787 cases and 21,694 deaths.
