Sauk Valley reports one death, 66 new cases over 2 days

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

Lee County on Friday reported the death of a woman in her 80s, as well as 32 new cases from Thursday and Friday.

The new cases involved two people younger than 13, one teenager, three people in their 20s, nine in their 30s, three in their 40s, six in their 50s, five in their 60s, and two in their 70s. Thirty people were released off isolation.

Nearly a quarter of Lee County’s eligible population, 24.14%, is fully vaccinated.

Whiteside County announced 25 new cases, of three people younger than 20, five in their 20s, eight in their 30s, one in his or her 40s, three in their 50s, three in their 60s, and two in their 70s. There were seven recoveries.

Whiteside also is close to a quarter of people vaccinated, at 23.28%

Carroll County reported nine new cases from Thursday and Friday; that department does not provide a breakdown and a recent vaccination figure was not available.

Ogle County, where 22.08% are fully vaccinated, did not report Friday.

By Friday, at least 3,182,010 of the population of Illinois have been fully vaccinated, or 24.97%, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported.

There were 3,866 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 21 deaths Friday. The state has seen 1,296,381 total cases, and 21,630 people have died.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 91 days. The region’s positivity rate stayed flat at 7.0%.

Currently, 18% of ICU beds are available. Friday is the fourth straight day this region is under 20% ICU capacity.

Within this region, Lee County’s positivity rate stayed flat at 2.0%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 8.4%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The 7-day rolling average of the state’s positivity rate stayed flat at 4.2%.
