Whiteside County reports 52 COVID-19 cases Thursday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

Whiteside County reported 52 new coronavirus cases Thursday, as numbers continue to climb.

There were 16 younger than 20, eight in their 20s, nine in their 30s, two in their 40s, eight in their 50s, six in their 60s, and three in their 70s. Whiteside has had a total of 6,648 cases, 158 deaths and 5,965 recoveries.

Whiteside County has administered 25,709 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 10,321 people (18.55%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 16,021 doses, with 6,170 people (18.03%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 5,955 vaccine doses, with 2,744 people (19.17%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 24,022 doses, with 9,375 people (18.41%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 83 days. The region’s positivity rate remained flat at 5.9%. Currently, 20% of ICU beds are available.

Lee County’s rate stayed flat at 1.3%, and Whiteside County’s increased to 8.0%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 3,739 cases and 34 deaths Thursday. The state has had 1,269,196 cases and 21,457 deaths.
