Sauk Valley reports 1 COVID-19 death, 88 cases Monday

The Sauk Valley reported one coronavirus death and 88 cases Monday.

Lee County announced the death of a woman in her 70s and 59 new cases since Thursday with three 12 and younger, two teens, eight in their 20s, 11 in their 30s, seven in their 40s, 13 in their 50s, eight in their 60s, three in their 70s, and three in their 80s. There were also 80 recoveries totaling 3,511 cases and 56 deaths.

Whiteside County had 26 new cases with four younger than 20, eight in their 20s, four in their 40s, two in their 30s and 50s, six in their 60s, and two in their 70s. There were also three new recoveries for a total of 6,524 cases, 158 deaths and 5,947 recoveries.

Carroll County had three new cases totaling 1,590 cases and 36 deaths.

Whiteside County has administered 23,975 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 9,201 people (16.54%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 15,267 doses, with 5,782 people (16.9%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 5,817 vaccine doses, with 2,665 people (18.62%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 22,493 doses, with 8,453 people (16.6%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 80 days. The region’s positivity rate increased almost a full percentage point to 6.1%. Currently, 22% of ICU beds are available.

Lee County’s rate increased a full point-and-a-half to 2.8%, and Whiteside County’s increased to 7.7%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 2,102 cases and 11 deaths Monday totaling 1,258,736 cases, including 21,384 deaths.
