One death, four new cases for Whiteside County over the weekend

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

Whiteside County reported one death of a person in his or her 80s and four new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend.

The four cases involve two people in their 20s and on each in their 40s and 60s. There were nine recoveries.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,068 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, the fewest cases in a day since July 21, and 14 deaths Sunday, and a total of 3,358,214 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

In Whiteside County, 9.59% of the population is fully vaccinated; in Lee County, 9.11%; and in Ogle County, 8.88%.

Illinois has seen 1,198,335 total cases of the virus, and 20,763 people have died. The state has conducted a total of 18,640,190 tests since the start of the pandemic.

The state’s seven-day rolling average positivity rate decreased from 2.4% to 2.3%.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate under 8% for 51 days. The region’s positivity rate increased to 2.5%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

The region has seen 84 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Lee County’s positivity rate increased to 0.7%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 2.1%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.
