Sauk Valley reports 1 COVID-19 death, 18 cases Friday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported one coronavirus death and 18 new cases Friday.

Whiteside County announced the death of a man in his 70s and three new cases with three in their 30s for a total of 6,019 cases, 149 deaths and 5,799 recoveries.

Lee County had 14 new cases with one teen, two in their 20s, two in their 40s, four in their 50s, three in their 60s and two in their 70s. There were also nine new recoveries totaling 3,104 cases and 60 deaths.

Carroll County had one new cases totaling 1,521 cases and 35 deaths.

Whiteside County has had 13,081 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 4,872 people (8.76%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 8,253 doses, with 2,959 people (8.65%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 2,867 vaccine doses, with 854 people (5.97%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 11,571 doses, with 3,913 people (7.68%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate under 8% for 49 days. The region’s positivity rate increased to 2.4%. Currently, 27% of ICU beds are available.

The region has seen 82 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Lee County’s rate stayed flat at 0.5%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 3.0%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois had 1,442 new cases and 33 deaths Friday totaling 1,194,702 cases, including 20,700 deaths.
