Whiteside County reports 5 COVID-19 cases Thursday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

Whiteside County reported five new coronavirus cases Thursday with two in their 50s and three in their 40s, 60s and 70s.

There were also 27 recoveries for a total of 6,016 cases, 148 deaths and 5,799 recoveries.

Whiteside County has had 12,228 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 4,338 people (7.8%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 7,905 doses, with 2,870 people (8.39%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 2,823 vaccine doses, with 808 people (5.65%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 11,170 doses, with 3,644 people (7.16%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate under 8% for 48 days. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 2.1%. Currently, 27% of ICU beds are available.

The region has seen 81 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Lee County’s rate increased to 0.5%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 3.1%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 1,740 new cases and 42 deaths Thursday totaling 1,193,260 cases, including 20,668 deaths.
