Sauk Valley reports 1 COVID-19 death, 44 cases Monday

The Sauk Valley reported one new death and 44 coronavirus cases Monday.

Whiteside County announced the death of a person in his or her 50s and 12 new cases with four in their 40s, two in their 30s and 50s, two in their 60s, three in their 70s, and one in his or her 80s.

There were also three new recoveries for a total of 5,928 cases, 146 deaths and 5,647 recoveries.

Lee County had 25 new cases since Saturday with one younger than 12, two teens, two in their 20s, three in their 30s, eight in their 50s, six in their 60s and two in their 40s and 70s. There were also 11 new recoveries totaling 3,049 cases and 60 deaths.

Carroll County had seven new cases totaling 1,506 cases and 35 deaths.

Whiteside County has had 9,333 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 2,700 people (4.85%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 6,267 doses, with 1,913 people (5.59%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 1,936 vaccine doses, with 503 people (3.51%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 9,007 doses, with 2,017 people (3.96%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) and has seen 38 consecutive days under the 8% positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 3.2%. Currently, 24% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 71 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Lee County’s rate increased to 0.8%, and Whiteside County’s rate decreased to 4.1%.

Hospitalizations have decreased eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 1,246 cases and 34 deaths totaling 1,175,655 cases, including 20,303 deaths.
