Sauk Valley reports 1 COVID-19 death, 16 cases Friday

The Sauk Valley reported one coronavirus death and 16 cases Friday.

Whiteside County had 13 new cases with one younger than 20, one in his or her 20s, two in their 30s, six in their 40s, one in his or her 60s and two 80 or older, totaling 5,914 cases, 145 deaths and 5,641 recoveries.

Carroll County reported the death of a person in his or her 70s and three new cases totaling 1,499 cases and 35 deaths.

Whiteside County has had 9,098 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 2,527 people (4.63%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 6,180 doses, with 1,882 people (5.5%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 1,708 vaccine doses, with 444 people (3.1%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 8,807 doses, with 1,928 people (3.79%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate of 6.5% or below for 27 days. The region’s positivity rate increased to 3.7%. Currently, 26% of ICU beds are available.

The region has seen 66 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Lee County’s rate increased to 0.8%, and Whiteside County’s rate decreased to 4.2%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 2,219 cases and 63 deaths totaling 1,170,902 cases, including 20,192 deaths.
