Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 58 new coronavirus cases Thursday.

Whiteside County had 40 new cases, with six younger than 20, four in their 20s, seven in their 30s, eight in their 40s, four in their 50s, four in their 60s, six in their 70s, and one in his or her 80s. There were also 15 new recoveries. The county has had a total of 5,444 cases, 135 deaths and 4,955 recoveries.

Ogle County had 18 new cases, and now totals 4,550 cases, 64 deaths and 4,023 recoveries.

Lee and Carroll counties did not release updated numbers Thursday.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen two days at or under the 6.5% positivity rate necessary to advance to Phase 4. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 6.3%. Currently, 27% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Lee County’s rate stayed flat at 1.3%, and Whiteside County’s rate decreased to 5.6%.

Hospitalizations have decreased eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 4,979 cases and 123 deaths Thursday. The state has had 1,081,354 cases including 18,398 deaths.
