Sauk Valley reports 7 COVID-19 deaths, 82 cases Wednesday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported seven new coronavirus deaths and 82 cases Wednesday.

Whiteside County announced the death of a person in his or her 70s and 29 new cases, with four younger than 20, four in their 20s, six in their 30s, seven in their 40s, three in their 50s and five in their 60s. There were also six new recoveries, with Whiteside now totaling 5,404 cases, 135 deaths and 4,940 recoveries.

Lee County had 14 new cases, with two younger than 12, three in their 20s, three in their 30s, one in his or her 40s, two in their 50s, two in their 60s, and one in his or her 80s. There were also 14 recoveries. Lee has had a total of 2,834 cases and 54 deaths.

Ogle County reported five deaths, of a man in his 80s, two men in their 70s, a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 80s, as well as 26 new coronavirus cases. Ogle totals 4,532 cases, 64 deaths and 3,973 recoveries.

Carroll County reported the death of a person in his or her 90s and 13 new cases, with a child, a teen, four in their 20s, three in their 30s, two in their 40s and one each in their 50s and 60s. Carroll has had 1,413 cases and 32 deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen one day at or under the 6.5% positivity rate needed to advance to Phase 4. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 6.4%. Currently, 31% of ICU are available.

The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Lee County’s rate decreased to 1.3%, and Whiteside County’s rate decreased to 5.7%.

Hospitalizations have decreased eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 4,822 cases and 107 deaths Wednesday. The state has had a total of 1,081,354 cases with 18,398 deaths.
