State senator asks for Valentine’s Day cards for seniors

State Sen. Brian Stewart, R Freeport, who represents the towns of the 45th District including Dixon and Oregon, is asking residents to join with him in sending Valentine’s Day cards to people living in long-term care facilities.

Cards dropped off or mailed to the district office at 50 W. Douglas St., Suite 1001, Freeport, IL 61032 by Feb. 7 will be delivered to care centers in communities across the 45th District as part of the card drive.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic, with all its restrictions, enters its third year, long-term care facilities continue to follow strict protocol to protect their residents from COVID-19 in all its various forms,” Stewart said in a news release. “This isolation means many long days for our senior citizens who do not have much outside physical contact with their loved ones and friends. Sending Valentine’s Day cards will let them know that people do care and are thinking about them.”
