Dixon artist awarded best in show in abstract category

DIXON — Glenn Bodish of Dixon was recognized with a Best of Show ribbon for his mixed media & acrylic piece “Seeing Spots” during a reception Friday, July 30 at The Next Picture Show, 113 West First Street.

The exhibit will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday until Aug. 24. The gallery has 66 works created by 26 artists.

Beth Hughes of Dixon took first place for her oil on canvas “Absorption”, Lorena Malm of Princeton was second with the oil paint, eggshells and copper tape work “Conducive Pairing” and Larry Bond of Sycamore was third for his watercolor “Traffic.”

Joy Meyer of Dixon for her acrylic, “Cool with a Touch of Warm’ and Bill Vose of Paw Paw for the mixed media “Do Not Go Gently…” received honorable mentions.

Sterling based artist and teacher, Heather Shore, served as awards judge. Jim Kanas & Doug Lofstrom provided entertainment as a jazz duo during the reception.
