Whiteside County Airport inducts retired lawyer into hall of fame

ROCK FALLS — David E. Murray, a retired lawyer from the firm of Ward, Murray, Pace and Johnson who first represented Whiteside County Airport in 1961 alongside Henry M. Ward, was inducted into its hall of fame on July 15.

During Murray’s tenure, he advised the airport board through changes in rules, regulations and leases. He and the board worked successfully with many officials of the state of Illinois and the Federal Aviation Administration on airport improvement projects.

In addition to Murray’s legal work, he began flying lessons and obtained his private pilot’s license and his instrument license at Whiteside. He became a pilot owner and hangar tenant. He was a member of the Twin Cities Air Activities Club. Prior to his law career Murray served in the Air Force Reserve.
