Convictions secured in Putnam County fraud and forgery cases

HENNEPIN — Putnam County’s State’s Attorney Christina (Judd) Mennie secured convictions in recent home repair fraud and forgery cases.

Steven G. Miller, 42, of Ladd pleaded guilty to aggravated home repair fraud, a Class 2 felony. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, which is to be served concurrently with a Bureau County sentence for home repair fraud, a Class 4 felony, to which he also pleaded guilty in June 2020.

Miller was also ordered to pay fines and restitution in both cases. He was represented in both cases by Public Defender Brad Popurella.

In a separate case, Crystal J. Shrimplin, 32, of Granville, pleaded guilty to the Class 3 felony of forgery and will serve 45 days in jail and two years probation in addition to paying $1,000 in restitution.
