Tennessee man killed in Granville Township crash June 4

GRANVILLE — A Tennessee man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in the early morning hours Friday, June 4, in Granville Township.

Ryan Lunger, 37, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident after Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3:50 a.m. in the intersection of Route 71 and Route 89.

A vehicle driven by Lunger that was traveling northbound on Route 89 failed to stop at the posted intersection and struck the trailer of a semi that was traveling westbound on Route 71, according to the sheriff’s office.

The semi driver, who’s name was not released by the sheriff’s office, was not injured. The accident remains under investigation.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Illinois State Police, Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, Standard Fire, PCEMS, Illinois Department of Transportation and Putnam County Death Investigator.
