Richmond-Burton baseball rallies late to pick up win

Richmond-Burton baseball erased a four-run deficit in the final inning Monday to pick up a 7-6 win over Moody (Ala.) in Fairhope, Alabama.

Back-to-back doubles by Colin Kriz and Carsten Szumanski sparked a five-run rally that ended with a Brock Wood game-winning single.

Storm Duncan started the game going 2 ⅔ inning with three strikeouts, four hits and five runs. Kaden Neuman picked up the win in relief, tossing one inning and allowing one hit.

Gordsonville (Tenn.) 7, Richmond-Burton 6: At Fairhope, Alabama, the Rockets lost their first game of the day during their spring break trip.

The Rockets led, 6-2, going into the seventh inning but were unable to hold the lead. Joseph Mrowiec took a no-decision, striking out nine and allowing five earned runs in six innings.

R-B’s Jason Miller was 2 for 4 with a two-run double. The Rockets combined for 11 hits.

Wheaton North 11-1, Burlington Central 2-6: At Wheaton, the Rockets picked up a win in the second game of their doubleheader to salvage a split with Wheaton North.

Josh Rodge pitched five innings in Game 2 to earn the win. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out three. Matthew Lemon drove in two runs, and Braden Lowitzki, Jake Johnson and Barrett Lewis each had an RBI.

In Game 1, Aric Beaman hit s solo homer for the Rockets’ lone run.

Hononegah 12, Prairie Ridge 11: At Rockton, the Wolves totaled 11 hits but fell short to the Indians in a nonconference game.

Jack Tobin and Nathan LaFever combined to drive in six runs. Tyler Vasey and Braden Thelander each had an RBI.

MEN’S BASEBALL

Kankakee Community College 6, McHenry County College 5 (9 inn.): At Kankakee, the Cavaliers scored a run in the bottom of ninth to get past the Scots (12-5) in their nonconference game.

Alex Janke (Huntley) drove in two runs, Riley Zirbel was 2 for 4, and Mason Schwalbach (Marian Central) and Xavier Schreiber each had one RBI for MCC.
