Raue Center Heads Back to School with Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.

Raue Center’s Sage Studio is proud to announce the return of Sage on Stage, an educational production program designed to take students from the page to the stage. Students build on the performance fundamentals taught in Sage Studio classes, and then put those skills into practice while rehearsing alongside professional adult actors.

Sage on Stage will present a full-scale production of Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. on Raue Center’s main stage, with shows running October 9-17, 2021.

Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr., the Emmy award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon, is the inspiration for this fun-filled family musical. As the story goes, Tom is a young schoolteacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. While watching television, various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the tv set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music. Memorable songs like “Just a Bill” and “Conjunction Junction” bring their lesson plans vividly to life.

“We’re so excited to be back in the theatre and relaunching this program for our amazing students; they’re going to put on quite a show!” said Amanda Flahive, Sage Studio Program Manager. “They’ve worked hard to hone their musical theatre skills alongside incredible adult professional actors and designers from across the Chicagoland area, and their work is spectacular. We can’t wait for audiences to share in the joy of live theatre once again after a long “intermission” over the past 18 months!”

Public performance dates are October 9th, 15th, and 16th at 7:00 p.m. and October 10th and 17th at 2:00 p.m. A school performance will take place October 14th at 10:00 a.m. Educators can reserve their school show at https://www.rauecenter.org/mission-imagination/.

Adult tickets are $25, and student (under age 18) tickets are $7. RaueNOW members enjoy a 30% discount.

Since the first days of the pandemic, Raue Center has made safety its top priority. We are happy to join terrific organizations like League of Chicago Theaters, TCG, and AEA to make our community safer as we all reopen! In a greater effort to keep our patrons, staff, artists, and volunteers safe, Raue Center is now requiring masks for all patrons ages two and older. For additional Mission Imagination COVID restriction information, Raue Center will be following the COVID protocols of School Districts 47 and 155.
