Free Virtual Speaker Series Offers Insights From Local Experts

With physical distancing guidelines still in effect, the importance of virtual learning continues to rise. And while we all miss the ability to connect in person, these convenient remote opportunities can be a great option for those who would have otherwise been unable to attend in person.

One of those opportunities is McHenry County College’s free educational speaker series, Experts and Insights. The series, which originally launched in 2019, aims to connect MCC employees, students, and McHenry County residents to interesting topics and relevant content that directly impacts the community. MCC faculty lead these sessions covering topics in their field of study, and the community is able to experience firsthand the high quality of education available through the College. This year, the sessions will be presented via Zoom.

The series is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Registrants will receive a link to the webinar the day before the event. Sessions may be viewed via Zoom on a computer, iPad, or smart phone device.

Upcoming topics include “Becoming Resilient and Happy: What Psychology Can Tell Us About Happiness and Well-Being in Uncertain Times” on January 21, 2021 at 6 p.m.; and “Wise and Well—A Healthy Balance” on February 18, 2021 at 6 p.m. The College also plans on hosting additional sessions on March 18, April 15, May 6, and June 3, 2021.
