Letter: Kids’ sign is for safety

There is a new road sign on my street. It is handmade by some neighborhood children and reminds drivers too slow down for the deer that frequently cross the street.

I like this new sign much better than the other signs that are also on my street:

No Parking (November to April)

No Parking (after snow)

Water Use Restriction Status

Landscape Water Use Hours

Speed Limit

Weight Limit

Those signs don’t really do that much to improve safety, they just restrict freedom while generating government revenue. My neighbors and I have tried asking the village install a wildlife crossing sign for weeks with no luck so far. Kudos to the neighborhood kids for stepping up to help protect our community.
