Letter: No need for fireworks

keyboard

RISE Up may well be a worthwhile endeavor. But, that does not mean that the City of McHenry should have the right to blast off noisy fireworks at 11:15 p.m., wakening sleeping residents. It’s bad enough that bombastic pyrotechnics run rampant every Fourth of July and the weeks leading up to that holiday, as well as following it, but including them in other city-sponsored events is unconscionable. As a Vietnam veteran, I had my share of unavoidable noise of that sort and do not appreciate unnecessary reminders of that long-past time in my life. Please take your noise somewhere else.
