Letter: The hypocrisy in Washington

keyboard

To the Editor:

So-called fiscal conservatives on the right are like cicadas – they are only heard when there is a Democrat in the White House. During the Trump presidency when Republicans controlled Congress, there were massive deficits and the national debt increased by more than $8 trillion.

Except a few lone voices on the right, fiscal conservatives were silent as the Trump administration added more than $8 trillion to the national debt. Now that Democrats are in control, you can look for fiscal conservatives on the right to regain their voices and loudly complain about wasteful spending and the size of the national debt.

There is never a shortage of hypocrisy in Washington.
