Letter: Candidate seeks support for McHenry Third Ward alderman

keyboard

I am running for Third Ward alderman for the city of McHenry, to be elected on April 6. I believe public service is a responsibility that we all share and we should all be willing to contribute our time and best effort toward the building of our community. Mohammed Ali said it well, ”Service to others is the rent you pay on earth.”

Having lived in McHenry my whole life, having raised my son, Colin, in the city we all love, I am aware of the needs of the community, the resources available and the public concerns that face our city.

My service to our community began when I was 26, first elected as alderman, when I worked with many of the city employees who have made McHenry what it is today. I went on to work for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, consume fraud unit, and became regional manager for the 17 regional offices throughout the state. This taught me how to work with people, cooperation, the importance of delegating work and the benefit of compromise. Other community service includes having worked on the McHenry Zoning board, small business coordinator working with the SBA, member of the McHenry Downtown Business Association, McHenry Jaycees, McHenry Rotary, member of the Riverwalk committee and now as a small business owner in McHenry, my computer repair shop has been voted one of the best in McHenry County three years in a row by Northwest Herald readers. My commitment is to serve the citizens of our great city and contribute to its strengths and prosperity; I will support public safety, encourage the continued improvements of city infrastructure, support keeping taxes down and encourage smart economic development while focusing on supporting our local small business. I would like to work on improving communication between the city administration and citizens of McHenry, I will be one phone call away.

Five years ago I was diagnosed with cancer, and glad to say I beat it. With determination, I will fight for citizens to make it the best place to raise our families for generations to come. I look forward to hearing from you and ask for your vote on April 6.
