McHenry County deputy injured in crash near Marengo

Deputy suffered minor injuries in the crash

A McHenry County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night near Marengo, Marengo Fire & Rescue District spokesman Alex Vucha said.

About 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Marengo firefighters responded to the intersection of Route 23 and River Road for a crash involving a McHenry County Sheriff’s Office deputy, Vucha said. When firefighters arrived, they found two vehicles, including the deputy’s car, with heavy to moderate damage.

The deputy suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, Vucha said. The two occupants in the second vehicle declined medical attention.

Illinois State Police Trooper Genelle Jones said the deputy was a sergeant with the sheriff’s office and has been released from the hospital.

The Illinois State Police continue to investigate the crash, Jones said, and do not have further information on how the crash happened.
