McHenry County coroner identifies 41-year-old Chicago man killed in Huntley crash

Tomasz J. Wojt, 41, of Chicago, was killed in a single-car rollover crash in Huntley last week

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office identified a 41-year-old Chicago man Monday as the person killed by a single-car rollover crash near the intersection of Route 47 and Kreutzer Road in Huntley last week.

The man was Tomasz J. Wojt, the sole motorist involved in the crash the morning of Sept. 14, according to Huntley police statements last week.

Preliminary findings of an autopsy by the coroner’s office show the cause of death was blunt force trauma, according to a news release from the coroner’s office.

Wojt was driving a 2007 GMC pickup truck traveling west on Charles Sass Parkway, near a curve, when it left the road, hit a light pole and rolled partially into a shallow retention pond, police said last week.

The man was ejected from the truck and found near the pond.

The coroner’s office is still working with the Huntley Police Department on the investigation into the crash, according to the release.

An attempt to reach Huntley police Monday evening was not successful.
