Fire renders Woodstock home uninhabitable

A fire ignited about 1 p.m. Wednesday in a home in the 300 block of Donovan Avenue and left the structure uninhabitable, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District said in a news release.

Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes of being dispatched to the fire, according to the release, and learned a single resident had escaped uninjured moments before their arrival.

Firefighters saw smoke coming from the home’s front door and used a hydrant for water supply while attacking the fire, the department said.

Heavy smoke and fire were reported inside the first floor of the home. The fire was considered under control within 10 minutes, according to the release.

The fire investigation continued for the next hour. An estimated cost of the damage has not yet been provided by the fire department.

The fire is not being considered suspicious at this time, according to the release, but it remains under investigation by the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.
