Man flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries from Route 47 crash north of Huntley

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office investigating

A man has injuries that are life-threatening after a car-truck crash about 2 p.m. Saturday on Route 47 north of Huntley. He was flown to a Libertyville hospital after being extricated from his vehicle, a fire department official said.

The crash involved two vehicles at Route 47 and Conley Road. It appeared to be a rear-end collision, Huntley Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Mike Pierce said.

The man trapped in a sedan was the sole occupant. The other vehicle was a pickup truck with two people, Pierce said.

Both driver and passenger in the pickup had minor injuries and were taken to Northwestern Medicine’s Woodstock hospital, Pierce said.

The driver of the sedan was first taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital. He was then flown to Advocate-Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Pierce said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, Pierce said. The sheriff’s office did not respond to requests for more information about the crash and what led to it.
